Nestled in the charming Gashosho commune of Muyinga province, the Masanganzira mill is just a short drive from the Ikawa Nziza dry mill. It’s managed by the enthusiastic Pierre, a committed farmer who stands out in Burundian agriculture. Since beginning his journey with raised bed naturals in 2020, Pierre has been diligently constructing a washing station that promises to elevate the production of fully washed coffee in the near future.
This exceptional coffee lot is a delightful blend sourced from Pierre’s farm and local smallholder farmers who bring their harvests to his washing station. The milling and exporting are expertly handled by Ikawa Nziza, a visionary collaboration that started in 2013 between Cafex mill and Schluter (now Covoya Europe), aimed at championing specialty coffee in Burundi. Notably, Ikawa Nziza is the first mill of its kind in the country, perfectly situated at an altitude ideal for producing outstanding microlots.
We’re thrilled to share that we’ve roasted this coffee to reveal a captivating cup bursting with delicate flavours and remarkable sweetness. Its full body is beautifully balanced with a mild acidity, showcasing notes of black tea and luscious peach. Enjoy this wonderful experience with every sip!
